FAST season opens with “Ben Hur”

It’s opening night for the first performance of the 2019 Festival Antigonish Summer Theatre season.

The Main Stage series features four performances- three comedies and one musical presentation.

Reema Fuller, the managing director of Festival Antigonish, tells The Hawk “Ben Hur” kicks things off Thursday.

“The play ends up being the kind of play where everything that can go wrong does go wrong,” she says. “It is just hilarious, it’s like a Monty Python version of ‘Ben Hur’- it’s really funny (and) it’s great for the whole family.”

Show time is 8 p.m.; there was a preview performance Wednesday night.

“A Brimful of Asha” opens July 18; “The Goodnight Bird” and “Honkey Tonk Blue” debut in August.

“If You Could Wear my Sneakers” opens on the Family Stage July 23.
