Federal, provincial officials contribute to Sherbrooke tourism gateway

Officials with the Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s are getting government funding to create a tourism gateway in Sherbrooke.

Sean Fraser, the MP for Central Nova, announced $20,000 in federal funding through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency to help improve public spaces in the community Monday; provincial officials are providing $25,000 through the Department of Municipal Affairs.

Officials with the federal government say the goal of the tourism gateway project is to transform Sherbrooke into a more welcoming space with a modernized land-use plan and a fresh streetscape.
