Fire at Guysborough Waste Management Facility

UPDATE: Officials say the fire is subsiding and they expect the facility will reopen Friday.

They are still recommending anyone living nearby keep their windows closed through the rest of Thursday.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.


A fire at Guysborough Waste Management Facility this morning is releasing heavy smoke into the air.

Municipal staff say, the fire is contained.

However, they warn people living in the area to keep their windows closed for most of the day today.
