Five local players selected in 2019 MHL draft

Five members of the Cape Breton West Islanders have been drafted into the Maritime Hockey League.

Forward Neil MacLean went in the first round (fourth overall) to the Fredericton Red Wings at the league’s annual entry draft in Edmundston Saturday.

Two players went in the fourth round- goalie Kenzie MacPhail to the Miramichi Timberwolves (63rd overall) and blueliner Dylan Chisholm (67th overall) to the Valley Wildcats.

Round five had the Pictou Co. Crushers pick forward Dave Matthews (77th overall) and the Valley Wildcats draft Lewis Taylor (84th overall).
