The second annual recognition awards for local healthcare workers were held at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre last night.
The event was organized by Cape Breton South Recruiting for Health and is meant to highlight the critical roles healthcare professionals play, and the sacrifices they make to serve their communities.
Award categories and winners included:

- Mentor Champion – Tara MacDonald
- Life-Long Learner – Charmaine Boudreau
- Dedicated Mental Health / Long-Term / Continuing Care Professional – Carson Samson
- Healthcare Hero Award (3 awarded) – Dr. Rajvinder Hanspal, Annette Fougere, Rosanna Boudreau
- Making a Daily Difference Volunteer Award – Debbie Samson
- Making Health your Business Award – Isle Madame Dental
