RCMP arrest suspect after precautions at schools in Port Hawkesbury

Some tense moments for students and parents in Port Hawkesbury.

Two schools were placed under a hold and secure over lunchtime on Monday, one being SAERC and the other, Tamarac Education Centre.

RCMP say it was in response to a domestic disturbance on Reeves Street.

They say a man may have had a knife and was walking around town.

The hold and secure was lifted shortly after it was put in place and police confirm they made an arrest on Monday evening.

The regional centre says students and staff are safe and families were kept informed on the situation.
