The creator of the major hit game Wordle is back with a new and somewhat chalanging game. (for me at least) It’s called Parseword!
Here’s how it works…
How Parseword Works
Instead of guessing a word, you transform part of a phrase into something that matches another word.
Each puzzle gives you a short phrase with one word underlined. That underlined word is your target. The other words are what you use to get there.
The Goal
Use wordplay to turn the non‑underlined words into a word or phrase with the same meaning as the underlined one.
How You Solve It
You click on words or groups of words to apply transformations. These are based on classic cryptic crossword rules and are guided by instruction words in the clue.
Example:
“Beat without a: risk”
Remove the letter A from “beat” to get “bet,” which means risk.
Instruction Words
Certain words tell you what to do:
- without, missing → remove letters
- backwards → reverse letters
- confused, mixed → rearrange letters
- heard → use a sound‑alike
Spotting these is the key to solving puzzles.
Common Wordplay
You’ll often replace words with synonyms, join words together, hide words inside others, or reverse letters. Every solution follows clear logic based on the words given.
So instead of guessing the word you have to really think in terms of using wordplay and off beat phrases, which I think is way more challenging! Try it out!
