Julien-Grant, Alphonso earn top StFX athletic awards

Officials in the StFX athletics department have presented their year-end awards.

They held their annual awards gala at the Keating Centre Thursday night.

Kaion Julien-Grant, a receiver with the X-Men football team, was named the StFX male student-athlete of the year; Joanna Alphonso, a prop with the X-Women rugby team, received the female student-athlete of the year award.

Riley Jennings from the X-Men track and field team received the StFX male community X-Cellence award; the female community X-Cellence award was presented to Kelsey Ellis from the X-Women hockey team.

Mike Cavanagh, the head coach of the X-Women rugby team, was named the StFX coach of the year.

Mark Tremaine was named the X-Men hockey MVP, Holden Cook was the team’s top scorer, Adam Holwell was rookie of the year, and Adam Stevens received the Wayne Mattie Memorial unsung hero award.
