Trick-or-treaters will be out Saturday night, and the Antigonish RCMP are reminding you to keep an eye out.
Community Policing Officer Morgan MacPherson says kids are excited for Halloween and might not be paying attention.
MacPherson tells The Hawk that makes it important for drivers and parents to pay attention to them along the roadside.
“We’re just asking the motorists to slow down on Halloween night,” he says. “It is a Saturday night, so there probably is going to be a little bit of increase in traffic, but we’re asking everyone to just take their time.”
MacPherson says parents can help by giving kids flashlights and adding something reflective to their costume, to help them be seen, and reminding them to stay on the sidewalk and only cross at crosswalks.
He also recommends at least one or two chaperons watching over each group of kids and says parents should check over their kid’s candy before they are allowed to eat it.
