Local sports preview (Saturday)

The two local teams in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League are in action.

The Strait Pirates are on the road.

They are in Liverpool to take on the Privateers.

Game time is 7 p.m.

The Antigonish Bulldogs are on the road.

The Bulldogs travel to Membertou and they will play the Jr. Miners.

Game time is 6 p.m.

 

The Islanders are on the road in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.

The Cape Breton West Islanders visit Halifax.

Game time at the Dauphinee Centre is 7:30 p.m.

 

It’s the battle of Cape Breton in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget Hockey League

The Cape Breton Jets make their way to Port Hawkesbury to take on the Cabot Highlanders

Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 6 p.m.

 

There’s one game in the Nova Scotia Female Midget AAA Hockey League.

The Panthers host Station-Six Fire at 5 p.m.

 

The Novas are on the road in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.

They visit Truro.

Puck drop at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre in Truro is 4 p.m.

 

There are a pair of games in the Antigonish Rural League.

The St. Croix Angels square off with the County Outlaws at 7 p.m.; the Pleasantdale Panthers play Heatherton at 8:30 p.m.

Both games are at the Antigonish Arena.

The X-Men hockey team returns to action after being off for the Christmas break.

They take on UNB.

Puck drop is 7 p.m.

 

The province’s two Quebec Major Junior Hockey League teams are on home ice.

The Cape Breton Eagles host the Moncton Wildcats at Centre 200 in Sydney.

The Wildcats have won four of the first five games in the nine-game season series between the teams.

The Halifax Mooseheads host the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at Scotiabank Centre.

The Moosehead have all four games so far in their nine-game season series.

Both games get underway at 7 p.m.

 

The X-Men hockey team is back in action after the Christmas break.

They take on UNB

Puck drop is 7 p.m.

 

Both StFX basketball teams are on the road in AUS action.

They play UNB.

Tip off for the women is 6 p.m.

The men play at 8 p.m.

Both games are worth four points.
