Local sports preview (Sunday)

The Novas play the second of back-to-back home games in the Nova Scotia Major Bantam Hockey League.

The Novas, who lost to South Shore in Antigonish Saturday night, host second-place Halifax.

It’s the third and final regular season game between the teams; Halifax won the first two.

Puck drop at the Antigonish Arena is 12:30 p.m.

 

The StFX women’s hockey team continues their weekend AUS trip through New Brunswick.

The X-Women, coming off a win/loss against Mount Allison in Sackville Saturday, face the UNB Varsity Reds in Fredericton.

StFX, ranked fifth in the country, has won two of the first three games in the four-game season series.

Game time is 3 p.m.

 

The Halifax Mooseheads return home to host the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Mooseheads, ranked eighth in the country, beat Pleasant Valley’s Jacob Hudson, Antigonish’s Jake and Sean Stewart and Moncton on the road Saturday night.

It’s the second and final regular season game between the teams; Halifax won the first 5-4 in overtime in Chicoutimi in October.

Puck drop at Scotiabank Centre is 3 p.m.
