The Antigonish Bulldogs open the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoffs on home ice.
They host the Pictou Co. Scotians in game one of their best-of-seven, Sid Rowe Division semi-final series.
The Bulldogs (10-2-1), who lost back-to-back games to finish the regular season, finished in top spot in the five-team division- and the entire league- with 21 points; the Scotians (5-5-0) were fifth with 10 points; they swept Eskasoni in a best-of-three play-in series to qualify for the playoffs.
Antigonish won two of the three games in the season series between the teams.
Puck drop at the Antigonish Arena is 7:30 p.m.
The first-round series shifts to Trenton for game two Thursday.
The Cape Breton West Islanders host the South Shore Mustangs for the second time in as many days in the Nova Scotia U18 Major Hockey League.
The Islanders won the first game between the teams in Port Hood Saturday night.
Puck drop at the Al MacInnis Sports Centre is 12 p.m.
It’s game two of the playoffs for the two local teams in the Maritime Major U18 Female Hockey League.
The Northern Selects host the Penguins; the Selects won the series opener in New Glasgow Saturday afternoon.
The series returns to New Glasgow for game three March 20.
The Cape Breton Lynx visit Halifax; the Lynx won the series opener in Halifax Saturday afternoon.
The series shifts to Membertou for game three March 19.
Both games get underway at 12:15 p.m.
The Cabot Highlanders play the second of back-to-back road games in the Nova Scotia U16 AAA Hockey League.
They visit the Kings in Sackville after Saturday’s loss in the Valley.
The teams split the first two games in their season series in Port Hawkesbury in November.
Game time is 11 a.m.
The Novas have a pair of road games in the Nova Scotia U15 Major Hockey League.
They visit the Cole Harbour Storm.
The Novas (9-10-1) have won four in a row.
The teams have met once so far; the Novas won that game 2-1 in Cole Harbour in November.
Game time is 11 a.m.
The Novas visit Dartmouth Monday night.
The Halifax Mooseheads host River Denys’ Colten Ellis, Antigonish’s Sean Stewart and the Charlottetown Islanders in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The Mooseheads (11-15-1), winners of two of their last three straight, are fifth in the six-team Maritimes Division in terms of points percentage, behind Moncton for fourth, and ahead of last-place Cape Breton; the Islanders, coming off Saturday night’s win against Cape Breton in Sydney, are in top spot in the division, and the entire league.
Charlottetown leads the season series 9-2.
