Five local teams are taking part in NSSAF basketball provincials.
The Dr. J.H. Gillis Royals are in Division 1 girls provincials at North Nova in New Glasgow, and play their quarter-final against C.P. Allen at 4 p.m.
The Dr. J.H. Gillis Royals and SAERC Saints are competing at the Division 2 boys tournament at King’s-Edgehill in Windsor; the Saints play King’s-Edgehill, the host team, in the quarter-finals at 4 p.m., while the Royals take on Sommet at 6 p.m.
The Guysborough Academy Blue Eagles are at the Division 3 boys championship hosted by Halifax Grammar in Halifax; their quarter-final is against Drumlin at 8 p.m.
The Baddeck Academy Broncos, who travel to Pugwash for Division 3 girls provincials, face Pictou Academy in the quarter-finals at 8 p.m.
All winners advance to Friday’s semi-finals, while losers move to the consolation bracket; the championship, bronze-medal and remaining consolation games are Saturday.
