Local sports preview (Tuesday)

There’s a double-header in the AGR.

The Pomquet Acadians host the Heatherton Warriors.

The teams are tied for top spot in the five-team league- the Acadians (1-0) won their only game of the season 5-4 against Heatherton in June, while the Warriors (2-1) have won two of their first three.

The first game of the twin bill at the Pomquet Recreational Ballfield gets underway at 7 p.m.

The Isle Madame Mariners visit the Petit-de-Grat Red Caps in the Richmond Amateur Baseball Association.

It’s the third game in two days for the Mariners (5-0), who swept both games of a double-header against Little Anse Monday; they’re first in the six-team league, a half-game up on second-place Inverness.

The Red Caps (1-4) are fifth, a half-game behind Little Anse for fourth, and a half-game ahead of last-place St. Peter’s.

The teams have met once so far- Isle Madame defeated Petit-de-Grat 12-1 in June.

First pitch at the Petit-de-Grat Ballfield is 6 p.m.

A pair of local teams square off in the Highland Soccer League.

The Antigonish Celtics visit Strait United in the U15 girls division.

The Celtics (0-0-1) and Strait United (0-0-1) have played one league game so far, which was against each other- they played to a scoreless tie in Antigonish in June.

Game time is 6:30 p.m.
