Local sports preview (Wednesday)

There are a pair of hockey games on the local sports schedule.

The StFX men’s hockey team hosts Dalhousie in AUS action.

The X-Men (4-4-2), losers of three straight and six of their last seven, are fourth in the seven-team conference with 10 points, four points behind Saint Mary’s for third, and a point ahead of fifth-place Moncton; the Tigers (2-6-2) are tied for sixth with six points.

It’s the second of five regular season games between the teams- StFX won the season opener 7-6 in a shootout in Halifax in September.

Puck drop at the Keating Centre in Antigonish is 7 p.m.

 

The Inverness-Baddeck Academy Rebels visit the Eskasoni Warriors in the Cape Breton West High School Hockey League.

The teams, who both lost their 2019-20 season openers, are at the bottom of the standings in the five-team league; the Warriors (0-0-1) are fourth with one point, two points behind Richmond Academy for third, a point up on the last-place Rebels (0-1-0).

Game time is 7 p.m.
