Local sports preview (Wednesday)

There’s a mid-week game on the local sports schedule.

It’s in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Halifax Mooseheads visit River Denys’ Colten Ellis, Antigonish’s Sean Stewart and the Charlottetown Islanders in the second half of a home-and-home series; Charlottetown won the opener 5-1 in Halifax Sunday afternoon.

The Mooseheads (6-7-5), who have split their first two games since play resumed, are third in the six-team Maritimes Division with 17 points, three points behind Acadie-Bathurst for second, and three points ahead of Cape Breton and Saint John, who are tied for fourth; the Islanders (14-2-0) are in top spot with 28 points.

Charlottetown has won four of the first five games in the season series between the teams.

Game time is 7 p.m.
