Two students from the Quad Counties are national scholarship finalists; they stand to win up to $100,000.
From Antigonish’s Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School, Marcel Desmond and, from Chéticamp’s École NDA, Louise Aucoin are part of 88 finalists chosen from 5,194 candidates across the country.
The Loran Awards recognize character, commitment to service, and leadership potential.
They’ll be competing for one of 36 four-year, $100,000 undergraduate scholarships.
They’re travelling to the awards’ national selection in Toronto on Jan 31 and Feb 1.
