Update: 2:45 p.m. Boil water advisory for Inverness from major water leak

There is a boil water advisory in Inverness after a major water leak on Forest Street.

In a media release, Saturday afternoon, the Municipality of Inverness County says the leak is resulting in a loss of water for many homes and businesses in the surrounding area.

The advisory is for everyone on the Inverness water system and although repairs are underway, is in advance of water restoration to “inform residents about the safety measures once water is restored.”

It is because there was a loss of water pressure in the waterline supply.

The boil water advisory will remain in effect until water service is fully restored and testing confirms you can consume it again safely.

Once water is restored, all Inverness water system users are advised to:

  • Bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one to two minutes before use.
  • Allow water to cool before using it for:
    • Drinking
    • Making ice
    • Brushing teeth
    • Washing dishes
    • Preparing food and beverages

Additionally, the Strathlorne Municipal Recycling Facility is temporarily closed.

If you suspect a water leak, please call the emergency line at 902-258-5048.
