Major winter storm expected to heap snow on the province

A major winter storm is sweeping south of the province.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for heavy snowfall across the mainland.

It says we could see more than 15 cm of the white stuff.

Environment Canada officials say snow will begin early in the day Thursday, with deteriorating conditions throughout the afternoon and evening.

Heaviest snowfall rates are expected Thursday evening, into Thursday night.
