Man arrested following car theft, foot pursuit found not guilty

A judge has found a suspect charged following a vehicle theft and foot pursuit in Antigonish Co. not guilty.

Police say a car was running when it was stolen in Monastery just after 6 a.m. one Sunday in February.

They say the car was found rolled over off Hwy. 104 in the Monastery area shortly after.

Antigonish RCMP say the suspect was gone, so the police dog was brought in, and they made an arrest less than an hour after they were called.

They say there was significant damage to the car.

Aaron Stephen MacMillan, 20, of Afton faced a count of possession of stolen property; he was released from custody after his arrest.

He pleaded not guilty during an election-and-plea hearing in September; he was found not guilty following his trial in Antigonish Provincial Court Tuesday.
