Wagmatcook man faces firearms charges

Baddeck RCMP have arrested a 49-year-old man and charged him with firearm offences and resisting arrest

Police say the incident took place Thursday night at a residence in Wagmatcook.

They say at approximately 7:27 p.m. officers responded to a call of a man pointing a firearm at another man.

When police arrived, they found the man pointing the firearm at them through the doorway.

RCMP say they were able to de-escalate the situation and convince the man to exit without the firearm.

The suspect then attempted to turn towards the firearm and was arrested inside the residence.

A loaded firearm was seized by police and there were no injuries.

A Wagmatcook man was released on conditions and is facing charges including pointing a firearm(2), careless use of firearm and resisting a peace officer.

The investigation is ongoing.

The man is scheduled to appear at Wagmatcook Provincial Court on December 2nd.
