Man facing impaired driving related charges after allegedly driving to local detachment trying to release friend

RCMP say a man is facing impaired driving related charges as he drove to the Antigonish Detachment hoping to release a friend from police custody.

They say they found the heavily intoxicated man at the detachment just before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say Michael Taylor Pinkham, 27, of Roachville has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle over the legal limit, public intoxication and two breaches, one of which was to not consume alcohol.

RCMP say they took the man into custody, he appeared in Antigonish Provincial Court Wednesday, before being released.

Police say he’s due back in court Apr. 4.
