The arena is owned by the Town and County of Antigonish.
After Tuesday night’s regular municipal council meeting, Owen McCarron, Warden, said town and county councillors discussed a new structure for the arena during their latest joint council meeting.
McCarron said the make-up of the arena commission board is one of the potential changes.
“We’ve looked at various facilities across the province- how they’re run, what the mandate is,” he said. “We both, town and county councils met in late December and talked it over; now, we’re going to get a legal review of the new changes and then move forward.”
McCarron said they’re not planning big changes, but it’s important to make sure everyone is on the same page with a co-owned facility.
He said it’s an opportunity to have a wide range of people from various user groups on the commission.
