Mayor says people excited about Reeves Street updates despite construction

Port Hawkesbury’s mayor says people seem excited about updates to the town’s main thoroughfare for the Destination Reeves Street project, despite the construction and lane closures.

Brenda Chisholm-Beaton says people are already telling her good things about the completed section of active transportation trail between NSCC and Reeves Street.

Chisholm-Beaton tells The Hawk the construction is important to the growth of the town, and people seem to understand that.

“The construction, I’m sure, is, maybe, providing a little bit of growing pains to some, but at the end of the day they know that our town is growing and everyone is super excited to see what the end result will look like,” she says. “I do feel there’s a sense of optimism in the air around Port Hawkesbury; that our citizens and our visitors to our town are seeing a town that’s on the move, and that’s thriving and growing.”

Chisholm-Beaton says that optimism is good for the town and she’s looking forward to seeing the project finished.
