‘McHappy Day’ raising funds for new Ronald McDonald House in Halifax

A Big Mac will go a long way today.

It’s McHappy Day at McDonalds restaurants across Canada.

Here in Nova Scotia, proceeds will help local families, as well as the new Ronald McDonald House in Halifax.

Director of Operations for several McDonalds in Southwestern NS Ross Miller says the existing building is full every year.

“At times we’ve had to turn away families. This new house being built across from the IWK is very much needed,” said Miller.

The building should be ready sometime next year.

“The house that we’ve had has served us well, but as any parent knows, you want to be as close to your children as possible.”

Grimace and Hamburglar socks, and monetary donations are also available, in addition to food purchases.

McHappy Day is a worldwide initiative by McDonalds, but it began in Canada in 1977.
