Lack of clarity ended housing project- MLA

A local MLA says a housing developer has pulled out of Inverness because they couldn’t get the information they needed from the Municipality of the County of Inverness.

Inverness MLA Allan MacMaster says the developers of the proposed 80-unit project needed to know when they could expect water and sewer hookups to continue planning for the construction.

MacMaster tells The Hawk that required answers from municipal officials on when staff could do the work.

“They could not get a clear answer from the municipality on that,” he says. “As a result, they’ve decided to suspend their project, so the project will not happen.”

MacMaster says there needs to be good communication and a plan to support economic development.

He says groups like this are needed in the community.

“Groups that are interested in coming in and building up the tax base and helping communities grow,” he says. “Are not getting the kind of information they need and we’re going to lose opportunities like this.”

He says the municipality needs to work with them to see projects like this happen.
