Inverness Co. officials have received a national award for making Inverness Beach more accessible.
Members of the Inverness Development Association, the Inverness Accessibility Committee and the community of Inverness, along with Inverness Co. municipal officials, were awarded the Rick Hansen Difference Maker Award at the 2019 Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities Spring Conference in Truro in May.
Hansen presented the award in person.
The winners were recognized for their work building accessible ramps, washrooms and parking spaces, as well as installing mats and making two beach-friendly wheelchairs and floating chairs available to visitors that allow people to go in the water safely at Inverness Beach.
