National Special Olympic Summer Games preparation continues

Organizers continue preparations for the 2018 National Special Olympic Summer Games in Antigonish.

The games run from July 31 to Aug. 4.

After Monday night’s monthly town council meeting, Laurie Boucher, the town’s mayor, said town officials are doing their part to get ready.

“We’re getting our lines painted; we will be going around and making sure that it’s accessible as can be right now,” she said. “Our recreation director and her crew are working very hard to get all the facilities in order- StFX is working hard as well, trying to get the stands in place and their accessibility tightened up as well.”

Boucher said organizers still need more volunteers for the event.

She said you don’t need to commit to the whole week; a day or even a few hours would help.
