Cabinet shuffle because of leadership contest

Premier Stephen McNeil has shuffled his cabinet.

Randy Delorey’s former job as Minster of Health and Wellness goes to Minister of Seniors Leo Glavine, he held the post from 2013 to 2017.

Delorey’s old spot as Minister of Gaelic Affairs, and Glavine’s former role as Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage, goes to cabinet newcomer Suzanne Lohnes-Croft.

Labi Kousoulis’s old position as Minister of Labour and Advanced Education goes to Minister of Immigration, Acadian Affairs and Francophonie Lena Metlege Diab.

Iain Rankin’s former Minister of Lands and Forestry post has been picked up by Minster of Energy and Mines Derek Mombourquette.

All this after the three ministers, Delorey, Kousoulis, and Rankin, stepped down to run for the provincial Liberal leadership.

The new Premier will be decided in February.
