Well, the grace period is over. Nova Scotia Power says late fees will be back starting October 1. The fees were suspended after the utility’s massive cyberattack in 2025, which caused major billing issues and left many customers receiving estimated bills. Now, the company says its billing system is back to normal, meters are connected, and bills are once again reflecting actual usage.
The good news? Late fees won’t be applied retroactively. Any outstanding balance from before October 1 won’t be hit with backdated late charges. However, any balance still owing on or after October 1 could be subject to late fees.
