Shane Thomas Richard

It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Shane Thomas Richard, age 39, of Monastery, Antigonish County.

Shane leaves behind the love of his life, Caileigh (Chisholm), whom he finally asked to marry this past September, and their son, Hunter, who meant the world to him.

Shane was a Manager at BST Lobster, but anyone who knew him knew he was really the manager of anything and everything. If something needed to be done, Shane was there. If someone needed a hand, he was often the first to help. He had a generous heart and a way of showing up for people when they needed him most.

Born in Antigonish, Shane was the son of Thomas Richard and Donna Kehoe (Rector). Shane grew up in Petit de Grat in the Richard family home.

Along with Caileigh, Hunter, and his parents, Shane is survived by his mother-in-law, Sherry Williams; siblings, Tamara, Jennifer, Scott, and Vanessa; brothers-in-law, Jonathan and Walter; as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Shane was predeceased by his father-in-law, Bernie Chisholm, his grandmother, Alice Helen (O’Donnelle) Richard and grandfather Arthur Nicholas Richard.

When we think of Shane there isn’t a person that doesn’t have a smile on their face and a story to share. Shane was always up for an adventure with his many close friends, you know who you are, where he was likely driving a little too fast.

He was known for – being a unique gardener and in his spare time would be found playing video games or in the pool with Hunter. If you were around him, you had his full attention.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 27, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 28, from 5:00–9:00 p.m. at the Port Hawkesbury Legion, 303 Reeves St., Port Hawkesbury, NS B9A 2R6.

Family flowers only.

Shane gave so much to so many throughout his life. For those wishing to give something back in his memory, donations can be made through Supporting Caileigh & Hunter After the Loss of Shane. https://gofund.me/9b87fb4d6
