Representatives with some local groups have received provincial funding to help get people back to work.
Officials with the provincial government are providing $10 million to support 25 communities through the Back to Work Community Partnership initiative.
The goal is to help reps plan and deliver short-term programs to help people build skills and connect to the local workforce.
Members of the Inverness Co. Literacy Council received $135,000 for their back to work project, reps with the Richmond Co. Literacy Network got $269,000 for their work options program, and Antigonish Co. Adult Learning Association officials were given $43,000 for their community careers in entrepreneurship initiative.
Provincial officials say each of the 25 projects will last 12-18 months; reps received the funding in March.
