Pair charged following Inverness Co. traffic stop have case adjourned

Two people facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Inverness Co. are scheduled to return in the fall.

RCMP say members of the Inverness-Richmond District Street Crime Enforcement Unit laid the charges after they stopped a car on Rte. 19 in Port Hastings in June 2017.

They say they arrested an Antigonish man and a Port Hastings woman after they seized roughly 50 grams of cocaine.

Police originally charged Gabriel Chaisson, 41, and Carol Taylor, 41, with trafficking cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The pair, who made their first appearance in the case the day after their arrests, had a charter hearing in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Thursday; the judge reserved decision on their application until Oct. 30.
