An Antigonish chocolate maker and former Syrian refugee says he’s excited to open a new location in Halifax.
Tareq Hadhad, the CEO of Peace by Chocolate, says the new downtown store will open Friday.
Hadhad tells The Hawk their new store will offer more than 60 products made at their Antigonish factory.
“We just felt that we need a space in the province that (can) carry all our products,” Hadhad says. “We have about 60 products that are manufactured in our factory in Antigonish, (and) the people of Halifax have been there for us since we started the company.”
Hadhad, who arrived in Antigonish in 2016 and opened his new chocolate factory shortly after, says they had a grand opening planned for the new store, but it’s delayed one month due to COVID-19.
He says their new store will also offer products from other local businesses.
“We are happy about the partnerships that we have built with over 15 other businesses in the city to resell their products in our store as well,” Hadhad says. “We are not only building a business for ourselves, we are building a business for our province, so we are welcoming any more partnerships.”
Hadhad says the store opening is not only exciting for Halifax, but for the Antigonish community as well.
