The Strait Pirates play a rare Tuesday night home game when they host the Miners in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.
The Pirates (23-2-1), winners of six straight and 18 of their last 19, lead the six-team Sid Rowe Division- and the entire league- with 47 points, eight points up on the second-place Miners (18-6-3) for the division lead, and a point ahead of East Hants for first overall.
They can clinch top spot in the division with a win.
Taylor Lambke, the team’s head coach, tells The Hawk they don’t need to change things up at this point.
“Keep the game simple and make sure we bring the work ethic,” he says. “They have a lot of offensive-type players, so we just want to make sure that we play good defensively, manage the puck properly, and make sure we use our forecheck.”
The Pirates have won the first two games in the four-game season series.
Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 7:30 p.m.
It’s the first half of a home-and-home; the teams meet again in Membertou Wednesday night.
