Police searching for two people after disabling vehicle with spike strip

Police are searching for two people who fled after RCMP disabled their vehicle.

RCMP say officers responded to a drunk driving call near a service station on Hwy. 105 in Whycocomagh Wednesday morning, an officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it fled.

They say officers later located the vehicle parked in the driveway of a home, officers blocked the driveway, but the vehicle drove through the yard to another driveway and fled again.

Officers used a spike strip to disable the vehicle near Christmas Island, three people ran into the woods.

They say two police dogs were brought in and a 31-year-old man from Sydney Mines, a passenger, came out of the woods and was caught. Police have not released his name.

RCMP are still looking for the other occupants of the vehicle.

The Sydney Mines man has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on September 28.
