Town officials in Port Hawkesbury say the Destination Reeves St. project is moving along.
Councillors awarded the tender for construction of part of the active transportation lane from NSCC Strait Area Campus to Pitt St. and streetscape work to Dexter Construction reps in March.
After June’s regular town council meeting Tuesday night, Brenda Chisholm-Beaton, the town’s mayor, told The Hawk work is already underway, and it will continue into 2020.
“There is a third phase that we are going to be looking for (in 2020) to complete the asphalt (on) the active transportation lane to make it as accessible as possible.”
Chisholm-Beaton said it’s exciting to watch the active transportation lane develop.
She said they hope it will be ready in time for the return of NSCC students in September.
