The Premier is weighing in on the mass casualty inquiry into the shootings that claimed 22 lives in April, 2020 in northern Nova Scotia.
In a statement today, Tim Houston says he’s heard that family members of the victims are frustrated about the structure of the proceedings, and they feel left in the dark.
He wondered how the public could have confidence in the inquiry if they don’t.
Houston says the reason for the inquiry is to seek answers that lead to change, but it’s not known if key witnesses are going to testify, or if they’ll be cross-examined.
He says the uncertainty is causing further, unnecessary trauma to the families, and that the commission should meet with them to address their concerns.
