Province announces 13 new COVID-19 cases, one under 10

There are 13 new cases of COVID-19 across the province, including our first case in a child under the age of 10.

At a press conference this afternoon, Chief Medical Officer of Health Doctor Robert Strang said the province now has 41 total confirmed cases.

He said all the cases are related to travel, or close contacts of people who got the virus by travelling.

Premier Stephen McNeil said tightened border controls, announced yesterday, are required to slow the spread of the disease.

“If you are entering back into our province you must self isolate for 14 days, it is your obligation to your fellow Nova Scotians to find yourself at home,” he said. “If you become sick, it allows us to be able to isolate that and prevents the spread of this virus.”

The province began enhanced checkpoints at the border Monday morning.
