Province announces 12 new COVID cases, 369 active

Nova Scotia announced 12 new cases of COVID-19 today, June 1, bringing the provinces active case count to 369.

Eight of the new cases are in the Central Zone, with six of those being close contacts of previously confirmed cases. The other two cases are under investigation.

The Eastern Zone reported three new cases. Two of those are close contacts of already reported cases.

The Northern Zone only had one new case today, also a close contact to a previously reported case.

The Central Zone is seeing limited community spread. The Northern, Eastern and Western Zones are being watched closely for signs of community spread.

38 people are currently being treated in hospital for the virus, including 15 in ICU. The median age of being hospitalized in the third wave is 53. That number increases slightly for those receiving care in the ICU, to 55.5.

So far, 43,561 Nova Scotian’s have received both doses of their vaccine. Overall, 588,991 doses of the vaccine have been given in nova scotia.
