St. Andrews’ Declan Smith had an assist for the Screaming Eagles (19-12-2), who have won six of their last seven to sit eighth in the 18-team league with 40 points, two points behind Rimouski for seventh, and two points ahead of ninth-place Sherbrooke.

The Mooseheads (22-7-2), who had their five-game winning streak snapped, are tied with Baie-Comeau for fourth with 46 points, a point behind Moncton and Drummondville, the two teams tied for second, and three points ahead of sixth-place Charlottetown.

Halifax has a 3-2 edge through the first five games of the nine-game season series between the provincial rivals.
