RCMP investigating attempted abduction in Pictou

RCMP are investigating a reported attempted abduction in Pictou and are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest.

Officers responded to a report on Denoon Street at around 10 p.m. after an 18-year-old woman said she was approached by a man in a white Ford pickup while walking home. She told police he offered her a ride, and when she refused, he got out and tried to grab her. She was able to run for help and was not physically injured.

Police describe the man as white, in his 60s, with a long white beard. At the time, he was wearing a camouflage hat with an antlers emblem, a camouflage jacket, and khaki pants. The vehicle was a white Ford extended cab pickup with a black push bar, heavy rust, a loud exhaust, and a burned-out passenger headlight.

Investigators are looking for witnesses or security footage from the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact Pictou County District RCMP at 902-485-4333 or provide anonymous tips through Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
