Reported QMJHL trade sends Quad Counties’ native to Titan

There are reports the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles have agreed to a trade with the Memorial Cup champion, Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

A couple familiar names are involved.

RDS reports the Titan will send Mitchell Balmas, a Sydney native, to the Screaming Eagles when the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s trade period opens Friday.

Beaver Meadow’s Ryan MacLellan and Cape Breton’s first-round draft pick (ninth overall) and their second-rounder are going to Acadie-Bathurst.

Balmas is heading into his overage season in the QMJHL; he played 10 games for the Strait Pirates at the end of the 2013-14 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League season.

MacLellan split this past season between Cape Breton and the South Shore Lumberjacks in the Maritime Hockey League.
