Richmond County requesting a meeting with public works minister

Spring may be a few weeks away but snow removal from provincial roads is still a concern.

The Municipality of the County of Richmond has heard from residents that the provincial roads they rely on for transportation have not been properly cleared after significant snowfall.

People have not only faced delays due to the road conditions they have also been concerned for their safety while driving.

Many of the roads in the county are provincially owned and according to Warden Amanda Mombourquette, the Municipality does not have responsibility for the maintenance of provincial roads.

The Municipality has requested a meeting with Minister of Nova Scotia Public works Kim Maslund.

The want to bring up concerns they have heard from residents and hopefully work out a plan to ensure the roads are properly cleared.

There is no word yet on when the meeting will take place.
