Ryan’s Run is happening in Port Hawkesbury today.
The second annual fundraiser is the first since Ryan died from pancreatic cancer in May.
Ryan’s stepmother Trudie Muggah tells The Hawk it’s in his memory and in his honour.
“We want the streets to be covered in purple hats, purple gloves. We have purple t-shirts for everyone, so hopefully you can fire that on over a sweater or whatever you want,” she says. “November is pancreatic cancer awareness month, so we moved the run this year to November 2 in honour of pancreatic cancer awareness, and we ask everybody to wear the color purple.”
Muggah says the run is also a fundraiser for pancreatic cancer research, and all money raised will go to the Canadian Cancer Society for that research.
She says 70 participants raised over $8000 last year, and they’re hoping to beat it this year.
