School bus involved in Inverness Co. crash

There’s been a collision involving a school bus in Inverness Co.

Robert Settle’s bus (Rte. 174) was on the morning run when the crash with another vehicle happened at the corner of Hwy. 105 and Orangedale Rd. at roughly 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The bus, which covers Bayview Education Centre, Dalbrae Academy and Whycocomagh Education Centre, was reported as 60 minutes late by officials with the Strait Regional Centre for Education.

A spokesperson for the SRCE says 911 was called, and EHS, RCMP and SRCE transportation staff members responded to the scene.

In an email, Deanna Gillis tells The Hawk one student was on the bus at the time, and their parent/guardian was contacted.

Gillis says paramedics assessed the student and bus driver, and there are no reported injuries at this time.

She says their initial investigation indicates the vehicle slid into the side of the school bus.
