Schools in Halifax, Sydney to re-open Thursday

You’ll be able to travel between municipalities starting Tuesday.

Provincial officials are starting their re-opening plan.

Travel and outside visiting will be allowed; groups of 10 or less are permitted in outdoor gatherings.

Premier Iain Rankin says we still need to follow public health guidelines.

“It is important that we take this cautious approach and limit socialization as we slowly open up,” he says. “You will soon be able to see people inside in phase two.”

Rankin says we could enter phase two as early as mid-June.

Dr. Robert Strang, the province’s chief medical officer of health, says he’s confident we can reach phase four of the re-opening plan by mid-July.

Schools in Halifax and Sydney will also re-open Thursday, one day after schools in the rest of the province.

Rankin says this will allow school officials time to prepare for the return of students.
