Schools to stay closed ahead of storm

It’s the first region-wide snow day of the 2019-20 school year.

Officials with the Strait Regional Centre for Education have cancelled classes due to predicted deteriorating weather; it’s a complete system shutdown, which means support staff are not required to report to work.

Classes have also been cancelled at the local French and First Nations schools, NSCC Strait Area Campus and Wagmatcook Learning Centre, and within the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education.

StFX is closed for the day; university officials say regular operations will resume at 6 a.m. Thursday.

You can find a complete list of cancellations here.
