Sea Glass Festival coming to Inverness

The Inverness County Centre for the Arts will host the second Sea Glass Festival on Saturday, June 13.

The Sea Glass Festival will showcase works of art and jewelry crafted from naturally weathered sea glass found along Cape Breton’s shores. The festival will feature local and regional artists, workshops, and educational talks about the history and ecology of sea glass.

There will be a Sea Glass Shard contest, bring your best finds to be judged, you may win a prize! They will also have activities for kids.

One of the featured guest speakers will be Mike Baran who is a professional beachcomber. In his presentation he will share the stories behind his favourite & most fascinating finds + offer some tips on using sea glass in crafts. 

Another guest speaker is Meaghan Landry. She is a lifelong beachcomber and licensed sea glass photographer. Meaghan will be sharing her expert tips and tricks on how to beautifully capture your sea glass treasures using just your phone. 

  • Kelly MacMillan lives in Port Hawkesbury with her husband and son. She has been part of the team at 101.5 The Hawk for more than 25 years, sharing stories from around the region. You can join her weekdays from 10am until 2pm.
