Search for missing hiker in Cape Breton Highlands called off

The search for a missing hiker in the Cape Breton Highlands has been called off after six days.

RCMP say it was around 9:30 a.m., April 28 when Denise Ann Williams, 62, from Australia was reported missing.

She was last heard from April 15 when she indicated she was travelling to Cheticamp.

He rental vehicle, a Nissan Sentra, was found at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre near the Acadian Trail head.

Williams is described as 5’4 with greyish blonde, shoulder-length hair.

She is believed to have been wearing a dark winter jacket a power tuque with “Antartica” written on it, an orange and blue scarf with glasses.

Anyone who has information is asked to call police. No further searches are planned at this time.
